When the 2015 National Indian Taco Championships conclude on Saturday, Oct. 3, the downtown festivities will continue with the Kihekah Avenue Street Dance.

This first-ever event is to be hosted by Tallgrass Gallery and is designed to promote Pawhuska as a national art destination, Chamber of Commerce officials said.

The NITC festival — featuring concessions, vendors and family entertainment — opens at 10 a.m. Taco judging will begin at 11 a.m. and winners will be announced between 3-4 p.m.

Live musical entertainment by Jimmie Johnson that evening will be accompanied by some public displays of live art as well as a children’s art show. Proceeds from a community art project and a public auction are to benefit the local Arts & Preservation Committee.

The public is being encouraged to come downtown for the Indian taco festival and then stay around for an evening of art and live music, the officials added.
