New Daylight Donuts opens on West Main

Five days after its official opening, Pawhuska Daylight Donuts hosted a Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday morning at its bustling location — 401 W. Main St.

Owner Rodney Grigg said things have gone well, so far, for the new business — which is being operated from the former downtown Sonic site.

“The only change we’ve made is that only our drive-thru will be open for the last hour each day (from 10-11 a.m. on weekdays and 9-10 a.m. on Saturday),” Grigg said.

Since it opened last Thursday, the local breakfast emporium shop has been busy filling orders for all varieties of its donuts and kolaches (regular, cheese and sausage), plus coffee, energy drinks, apple juice and orange juice.

Grigg said the adjustment in hours will give his staff the time needed to clean up from one day’s business before having to begin preparing for the next.

“And in the end, it should let them get an extra hour of sleep,” the Pawhuskan said.

In addition to having nearly 20 years of food-industry experience, Grigg holds three degrees (two in economics and another in business management) from Oklahoma State University.
