Thursday crash fatal to 19-year-old Barnsdall woman
A two-vehicle accident on State Highway 11 claimed the life of a 19-year-old Barnsdall woman Thursday morning, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Caitlan Doty was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash which occurred approximately 5 1/2 miles northwest of Barnsdall at around 10:52 a.m., the department said.
OHP reports said Doty was the driver of a 2006 Hyundai Sonata that collided with an Isuzu box truck near the highway’s junction with Osage County Road 2561.
Troopers said the car had been travelling southbound on the county road and failed to yield at a stop sign.
The car apparently turned toward the east and went into the path of the westbound truck.
The truck’s driver — identified as 23-year-old Lynn Nicole Parker, of Sapulpa — was taken to Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville where she was treated for a broken wrist, the OHP said.
The report added that a seat belt was being used by Parker, but not by Doty.
Funeral services for Doty were held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Barnsdall with interment following at Ethel Reece Cemetery under direction of Stumpff Barnsdall Funeral Home.
