Local FFAers host banquet following state convention
OKLAHOMA CITY — Three members of the Pawhuska FFA Chapter — Kasi Dick, Jayden Higgins and Trenton Barnett — received State Degrees at the Oklahoma FFA Convention on April 29.
The Pawhuska chapter also was recognized for making a donation to a Chapter Trust fund. More than a 15 local FFAers attended the 89th-annual convention, which opened April 28 at Cox Convention Center. Many of those participated in a leadership workshop where they were able to mingle with delegates from other chapters during team-building exercises.
Pawhuska senior members Higgins and Dick served as voting delegates in the election of a North East Oklahoma FFA president for 2015-16.
Two weeks after the convention concluded, the local chapter held its 15th-annual FFA Appreciation Banquet on May 12 in the Agriculture Building at the Osage County Fairgrounds. P
HS Vo-Ag instructor Jared Lemmons served as master of ceremonies for the event, which included a recap of membership honors for the year.
Several members of the community were recognized for their support of the program.
At the Oklahoma City convention, Woodland chapter members Shelbi Gordon, Mary Sherrill and Kyanne Welch were also among the 742 State Degree recipients. Gordon and Sherrill earned FFA Career Passport honors, as well.
