The 84 turbines of the Osage Wind development appear to have been erected on the prairie land along U.S. Highway 60 in western Osage County near Burbank. Although no blades were turning when this photograph was taken early last week, officials with Tradewind Energy and Enel Green Power North America anticipate the 150-megawatt facility will be put into operation later this spring. Also planned in the area is a 136-megawatt companian project, Mustang Run. Power produced by the two projects should be sufficient to operate 86,000 homes, the officials added.
