OSAGE NATION HEAD START RECRUITMENT

Osage Nation Head Start recruitment will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 16-20 at 15th and Grandview in Pawhuska. ONHS serves children ages 3-4 years old. Children must be 3 by Sept. 1, 2015 to be eligible. Those who are enrolling children need to bring proof of income, CDIB/Membership (if applicable) and immunization record. ONHS recruits children with disabilities. The 3-year-old program works with children from 8:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on school days. The 4 year old program is from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Osage Nation Head Start promotes school readiness, Osage culture and language, as well as healthy practices and family activities.

REPUBLICANS TO HOLD MEETINGS, CONVENTION

The Osage County Republican Precinct Meetings and Convention will be held on Saturday, March 21, at the Inter Local Co-op, 207 East Main Street, Hominy. The convention will begin at 9:30 a.m. with registration followed by Precinct Meetings at 10 a.m. and the County Convention immediately afterward. Business will be conducted per OKGOP rules. The first meeting’s activities will include election of precinct chairs, vice chairs and delegates to the county convention. The county convention will begin with the credentials report so that the permanent roll of the convention can be adopted. This convention will include election of county chair and vice chair, district and state committee members and state convention delegates. Bring voter registration card. POST 198 ANNUAL ELECTION OF OFFICERS

American Legion Post 198 will hold its annual election of officers on Monday, March 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the Wah Zha Zhi Cultural Center, 1449 W. Main. All members are urged to attend.

OSAGE NATION HOSTS CONTRACTOR’S CONFERENCE

Osage Nation Housing Department will host the 2nd annual Contractor’s Conference from 2-4:30 p.m. on Friday March 27, in Skiatook, at the Osage Casino, 5591 West Rogers Blvd. ONHD is searching for general contractors and licensed professionals in the following fields: plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians and pest control. Vendors interested in engaging business with the Osage Nation Housing Department are encouraged to attend. Contractors and licensed professionals will have the opportunity to learn the process of contracting work on construction/rehabilitation projects with the Osage Nation Housing Department. Registration is free and light refreshments will be provided for all registered participants.

POWER DISRUPTIONS?

Some disruption of service was anticipated Tuesday, March 17, as a result of maintenance procedures that were to be conducted on local transmission lines.

PREVENTION PROGRAM YOUTH POW WOW

The annual Osage Nation Prevention Program Youth Pow Wow is to be held Saturday, March 28, and Saturday, April 5, at the Ag Building of the Osage County Fairgrounds. Gourd Dance begins at 2 p.m. and dinner is scheduled for 5 p.m. The Grand Entry is planned for 7 p.m. Tiny Tot, Junior and Teen contests will be held. For more information, call 918-287-5595.

CALVARY BAPTIST REVIVAL

Calvary Baptist Church, 15th Street and Lynn Avenue, will hold its Spring Revival under direction of the Rev. Dale Gowdy from March 29 through April 1. The opening Sunday services are to begin at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. On Monday through Wednesday, services will begin at 7 p.m. There will be fellowship and desserts following each evening’s service.

PARENTING CLASSES OFFERED

OSU Extension is offering Co-Parenting Classes for Resilience. The class is for parents with a minor child/children who are experiencing divorce or separation. Also for those who may be seeking custody, visitation, or paternity of minor children.
