REGISTRATION DEADLINE

FOR SCHOOL VOTE NEAR

Registration deadline for voters wishing to cast ballots in the upcoming Pawhuska Public Schools election is Friday, Jan. 16, according to Osage County Election Board Secretary Andrea Conner.

The annual Pawhuska I-2 School District vote — which will include election of one member to the Board of Education — will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Voters can register to vote at the Osage County Election Board Office at 630 Kihekah. Persons with questions can call 918-287-3036.

INTERLOCAL TO HOST TEACHERS

Approximately 240 teachers from seven area school districts are expected to attend a professional development day Monday, Jan. 19, at Pawhuska High School.

Osage County Interlocal will be hosting the training session, which is entitled “Teachers Teaching Teachers.” The event is scheduled to last from 9 a.m. until 2:15 p.m., according to Debbie Bennett of the OCIC.

Participating teachers will choose between a variety of sessions being offered each hour. The sessions are to be presented by other area school teachers as well as business professionals and professors from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.

A donation by Citizen’s Bank is going to make it possible for Boy Scout Troop 43 to prepare and serve lunch for the teachers, school officials said.

MULTITASKING TO BE ‘FOOD FOR THOUGHT’

“Multitasking – Why It Doesn’t Work” will be the subject of a luncheon presentation Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Pawhuska Business Development Center, 1225 Virginia St.

Tonya Foreman and Tara Gotwalt are facilitators for the Food For Thought session, which is provided by the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce. The event is scheduled to last from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the professional-development session expected to begin at noon.

TURKEY DINNER ON TAP

The United Methodist Women Turkey Dinner is to be held Thursday, Jan. 22, at the United Methodist Fellowship Hall, 621 Leahy.

The dinner — which will include turkey and all the fixings — is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. and continue until 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per dinner and carry-out will be available.

RAFFLE TICKETS AVAILABLE

Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets currently available at the Osage Tribal Museum will be used to fund the completion of the James Bigheart Statue.

The raffle prize is a man’s outfit, which is now on display at the museum. It will be raffled off Tuesday, June 2, at noon.

OSAGE COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO MEET

The Osage County Republican Party Executive Committee will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Skiatook High School Auditorium.
