Pawhuska Library marks 100th anniversary
Pawhuska City Councilman Mark Buchanan presented Mayor Roger Taylor’s official Proclamation that recognized the Library’s 100th Birthday. City Librarian Lu King said, “Councilman Buchanan did an outstanding job of reading the proclamation which was signed by Mayor Taylor and attested to with the official City Seal by City Clerk Barbara Smith.”
The proclamation read, in part, “Whereas, the Pawhuska Public Library was officially formed by the Heeko Club in 1914 and has grown and flourished to accommodate all Pawhuska citizens, children and adults alike with a wealth of information on a myriad of subjects.”
A bronze plaque commemorating the Library’s 100th Birthday and its GFWC Heeko Founders was unveiled. Balloons released and refreshments served to guests. GFWC Heeko President Debbie Reed had the honor of cutting the Library’s birthday cake. Floral arrangements, hand-crafted by Carol Crews, adorned the library for the celebration.
