High Frontier 11 rocket launches set this weekend

For the 11th consecutive year, Tulsa Rocketry will host the high-powered High Frontier rocket launches this Saturday and Sunday at Pawhuska Municipal Airport.

The launch range is to be open both days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A High Frontier 11 Night Launch begins Saturday at sundown (approximately 8:30 p.m.). Members of the public have been invited to bring their lighted G-and-below-powered rockets to join in on the night-flying fun.)

Events will include “Closest to the Buffalo” for kids under 18. Cash prizes of $25/$15/$10 will be awarded at 3:30 p.m. each day for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Vendors are expected to set up on site and there will be drawings for rocket kits.

Other special Saturday events include “Warlock” and “Big Daddy” drag races. On Sunday, there will be a “Minnie-Magg” drag racewill

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Tulsa Rocketry club. Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce co-sponsors the event.
