Osage Casino to host free Saturday concert

Country singer-songwriter Phil Vassar will present a free outdoor concert Saturday night at Osage Casino-Pawhuska.

The all-ages-welcome concert begins at 9 p.m., but music will start at 5 p.m. when the gates open. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and be prepared for any weather eventuality, as the show will go on rain or shine, a spokesman for the casino said. Concessions are to be available, so outside coolers will not be permitted.

A native Virginian, Vassae has recorded a string of hits including “Carlene,” “Just Another Day in Paradise,” “Last Day of My Life,” “In a Real Love” and “Six-Pack Summer.” He also is a successful songwriter who penned “In My Next 30 Years” for Tim McGraw, “She’s Right on the Money” (performed by Alan Jackson) and the Jo Dee Messina smash, “Bye, Bye.”

Osage Casino-Pawhuska, located at 15th Street and John Dahl Avenue (Highway 60/99), is one of seven casino enterprises operated by the Osage Nation. Others are in Bartlesville, Sand Springs, Tulsa, Skiatook, Ponca City and Hominy.

All of the locations will have free concerts during the month, the casino spokesman said.

On Friday night, May 9, Travis Tritt will perform a free concert at the casino in Hominy. Tracy Lawrence is scheduled to appear at Osage Casino-Bartlesville on May 17. Also, the Skiatook casino location will host a Jamey Johnson concert on May 24, and Chris Cagle is to be at the Osage Event Center in Tulsa on May 31.
