Candidate filing begins today

Statewide election activity began officially at 8 a.m. this morning and closes at 5 p.m. Friday, April 11, Andrea Conner, Secretary of the Osage County Election Board, said recently.

Candidates for state offices file with the Secretary of the State Election Board in Oklahoma City. Candidates for county offices file with the Secretary of the County Election Board. Conner said that filing packets are now available at the County Election Board Office, 630 Kihekah Ave, Pawhuska, or visit the State Election Board website http://www.elections.ok.gov/.

Conner said that the following county offices will be filled this year: County Assessor, currently held by Gail Hedgecoth Shirley, County Treasurer, currently held by Sally Hulse, County Commissioner District No. 1, currently held by Bob Jackson, and County Commissioner District No. 3, currently held by Darren McKinney.

Candidates drawing opponents will appear on the ballot during the primary election on June 24 or the general election on Nov. 4.
