LIONS CLUB HOSTS PANCAKE DAY FUNDRAISER

The Lions Club is holding a pancake day fundraiser from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 5, at the Elks Lodge. The venue changed this year due to the closing of the Senior Citizens building. Tickets are $5.

FARMERS MARKET TO HOLD SIGNUPS FOR VENDORS

Farmers Market Board will be holding a farmer signup session for potential vendors. The signup will be held from 9-11 a.m. April 5 at the Osage County Health Department.

ESA DINNER, STYLE SHOW SET

The Pawhuska ESA Chapter will host a dinner and style show on April 7 at the Methodist Family Life Center, 621 Leahy. The event will kick off at 6 p.m. and will feature fashions from two Pawhuska businesses as well as Barnsdall and Ponca City.

ESA (Alpha Zeta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha) is a philanthropic organization. The Pawhuska chapter has been serving the community for over four decades. Monies raised from this event will used for their numerous ongoing service projects.

BIKER RIDE SET FOR APRIL 13

There will be a Biker Ride to Shidler’s “little town” for a cup of coffee and the best biscuits and gravy you will find anywhere from 7:30 a.m. to noon on April 13, beginning at the Hole In The Wall Cafe, S. FIRST BAPTIST TO HOLD EASTER EGG HUNT

First Baptist Church will have an Easter Egg Hunt from 10:30 a.m. to noon April 19 at the Cultural Park (Gazebo). Children ages birth to 12 years old are invited. Easter egg hunts start at 11 a.m. with staggered start times.

GIRL SCOUTS HOLD OLYMPICS

More than 400 area Girl Scouts and their family members took part in last Saturday’s “Live Healthy, Lead Healthy” Girl Scout Olympics held at Osage County’s Camp Wah-Shah-She.

Teams of contestants participated in fun and challenging events that included “Real Sports” and “Wacky Sports.”

During the morning, a special opening ceremony featured the lighting of an “Olympic Torch.” There was a parade of athletes dressing in costumes to represent their teams. The team uniforms also were part of an Olympic fashion show.

The events allowed the Girl Scouts to show how they had built up their endurance and strength during a recent “20-week fitness challenge.”

MOTORCYCLE POKER RUN TO BENEFIT AVANT FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Avant Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a motorcycle poker run Saturday to raise funds for replacement of a fire truck and other emergency-response equipment that were stolen late last year.

“Out of the Ashes Poker Run” starts and finishes at the Avant Fire Station. The first bike is to head out at 1 p.m. and the last one gets going at 2:30 p.m., event organizers said. Prizes will be awarded for the best hand and the worst hand. A 50/50 drawing and other activities are also planned. The SkyTown band will begin playing at 5 p.m., organizers added.

The poker run is one of several events that are being held to assist the volunteer department in its recovery from a Dec. 4, 2013, burglary. In addition to vandalizing the station, the town’s primary response vehicle was stolen and destroyed.

P.E.O. TO HOLD BRIDGE TO FRIENDSHIP

P.E.O. Sisters and Friends are invited to the group’s 6th Annual Bridge Fest, Bridge to Friendship, starting at 10 a.m. April 12 at the Velma B. Oakes Family Life Center. Directions are: From Hwy. 60, north on Leahy, to southeast corner of 7th Street.

Dress for the event is casual. Four game contract progressive Bridge, including progress on tables and change partners. There will be two levels of play for seasoned and beginners. Cash prizes will be given for first and second places in both levels and various other prizes.

The tournament fee of $25 covers breakfast rolls, coffee and tea, snacks and drinks throughout the day, and lunch.
