Community transportation, including Pawhuska, is the topic of a public forum set Feb. 12, in the Conference Room at Washington County Health Department, 5121 Jacquelyn Lane, from noon to 1 p.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend and share their comments and suggestions for the public transit program.

Input gathered from the public will be taken into account as staff reviews and updates the agency’s transportation plan. The plan will be integrated into the annual application for funding under Section 5311, nonurbanized area formula grant program of the Transportation Efficiency Act for the 21st Century.

In early January, Cimarron Transit submitted a letter of intent to apply for program year 2015. Applications are due to the Transit Program Division of Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) by April 1. Currently, Cimarron Transit operates in and around the communities of: Barnsdall, Bartlesville, Bristow, Dewey, Drumright, Kellyville, Mannford, Oilton, Pawhuska, Ponca City, Sapulpa and Skiatook.

For those interested in providing input but are unable to attend the public meeting, written comments may be submitted via e-mail to or mailed to: 2101 N. 14th, Street, Suite 129A, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Trips are scheduled on a first call basis, subject to availability. All rides are open to the public. Vehicles are ADA compliant.
