Two weeks down and school seems to be in full swing already. We are very proud of our Junior High girls softball team. They did a great job on their first game with Shidler. Way to go team!

Our field looked great! Way to go Steven and Jennesee Holt and girls, Robert Tuller, Travis Sweeden, Christian Supernaw, David Powell and the Robotics team, as well as the many people who donated to it. We now are charging for our softball games, because of increasing costs. The price is $4 for adults and $2 for students.

We decided to let fans park behind the bleachers and along the fence. (At your own risk!) Please just pay at the concession stand when you arrive if someone doesn’t stop you on your way in. We appreciate your help with this! As always our senior citizens from Wynona are our honored guests. Thank you for your support!

There will be no school on Monday, Sept. 2, for Labor Day holiday. Grandparents’ Day will be on a Thursday, Sept. 5. The Parent Teacher Group will pay for the meals for our guests this year. Come join your grand children if you can. We will need a count, so please let us know by August 30, if at all possible, if you plan to come.

The Book Fair will be held Sept. 5 - 13. Parent conferences will be Sept. 17 and 19, from 4 - 7 p.m. We have a home game on Tuesday, August 27, against Pretty Water at 4:30 p.m. There will be no school on Sept. 23. That is a professional day and the teachers will be in meetings.

Monday, Aug. 26, will be the day that the OCIC provides fall screenings for our students in K - 2 and new students in 1st - 5th for speech/language and hearing screenings. If you need a school calendar, please contact our office or visit our website at

Sept. 10 will be a very important day for our school and our students. There will be an election for a bond issue totaling $180,000.

$105,000 will be used for building renovations, including but not limited to such things as restroom renovations, flooring, paint, computers, and security; and $75,000 will be used to purchase a new route bus. Passing this bond will only increase taxes $6.73 annually per $100 tax amount. This would help keep our school in good working order and would keep our taxes close to what they have been over the past years because the millage decreases as the bonds are paid down. We would really appreciate your support by voting yes on Sept. 10!

Polls will be open at the regular voting places from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Wynona Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, Aug. 20 for the regular scheduled meeting.

In addition to the regular business, minutes, financial report and claims, the board passed a resolution authorizing a REAP Grant application for water, (well telemetry and lines), approved a contract with Cardinal Engineering for engineering on grant, approved a contract with Jayhawk for offsite data storage. The offsite data storage saves all of the town’s important data to a site where it can be restored if there was ever an emergency causing data loss.

Attending the meeting were; Della Carter, Hailey and Harley Towell, Nancy Deatherage, Joey Stone, Janet Delaney, Donna Swanner, Johnnie Jo Lott, Jason Clark and Tennie Slone. The next scheduled meeting will be held on September 17th.

Just a reminder that Lee Webb, is still coming to the Town Hall on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. to help veterans with their benefits. This is a great opportunity for veterans and should be utilized by all that are qualified. Veterans are reminded that they can use their tax exempt card from the state to exempt taxes on their phone bills. Just contact your telephone provider for more details.

The Osage Home Health is doing a Blood Pressure/Blood Sugar Clinic at the Town Hall on the first of each month. It will be from 10 a.m. until noon. Everyone is encouraged to come and get their tests done and keep healthy!
