WIC services now offered in Osage County
The Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), is now available through the Osage County Health Department can make positive changes in the health of pregnant women, infants and children.
WIC is a federally funded nutrition education and supplemental food program for low income pregnant and breastfeeding women, or women who have delivered within the last six months, as well as infants, and children under age five. Participants must be determined to be at nutritional risk and meet income guidelines.
Once certified, participants can get benefits at their local clinic to obtain supplemental food items such as milk, cheese, fruit juice high in vitamin C, eggs, iron-fortified formula and cereal, dried or canned beans, peanut butter, tuna, and fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables.
