Pawhuskan killed walking on highway in Nowata County

A 33-year-old Pawhuska man was struck by a car and killed late Thursday as he walked along U.S. Highway 60, approximately five miles east of Bartlesville in Nowata County, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials.

OHP reported that pedestrian David Micheal Butler was in the eastbound lane of the roadway, walking westward ,when he was hit by the vehicle at around 10:26 p.m. The car, a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, was driven by 50-year-old Jerry Woods of Nowata. Woods was not injured, the OHP report added.

Butler was pronounced dead at the scene from massive injuries, the highway patrol report stated. Preliminary reports indicated that the pedestrian’s actions appeared to be responsible for the accident.
