Just a reminder that Lee Webb, is still coming to the Town Hall on Fridays from 11:30 until 12:30 to help Veterans with their benefits. This is a great opportunity for veterans and should be utilized by all that are qualified. The people in Wynona were out in full force, carrying branches, cutting out trees, setting up trampolines, righting the things the wind blew over on Tuesday night, July 23.

The big old Elm tree that sat in front of Wynona Town Hall for many years blew over, from the roots. The tree just missed the Town Hall, Utility Building, old bell from the Christian Church and the Town of Wynona sign. The only thing that the huge felled tree damaged was the flag pole and it only knocked it down and bent the pole. The flags were saved.

People were out all day for the next couple of days hauling away tree branches, whole trees, setting up outdoor items that were all blown over. One of the saddest things that was damaged was the awesome fence Steve and Jen Holt had been putting up around the School’s ballfield. It was just laid over flat with the cemented posts pulled right out of the ground. They worked so hard on it and everyone was so proud of the way it looked. Hopefully, it can be restored without too much problems.

It was reported that we had 66 mph winds and about three inches of rain. This was on top on the five or so inches of rain we got over the weekend. There wasn’t any major home damage reported to the Town Hall. There were reports of some limbs landing on roofs and minor damage like that, but no homes were lost and thankfully, we did not hear of any injuries.

We have to feel lucky that although we had a lot of strong winds, we made it through without many problems!
