Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are blaming alcohol for a single-vehicle accident in Osage County on Saturday.

According to OHP reports, the wreck occurred at 8:45 a.m. at Osage State Park, about 8/10 of a mile north of State Highway 20, approximately four miles east of Skiatook.

Troopers say a 1990 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 30-year-old Nicholas Leroy Martinez, of Skiatook, departed the roadway to the right before striking a tree. Martinez was transported by Skiatook Ambulance to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa where he was treated and released.

One passenger, 26-year-old Shalena Marie Blackwood, of Collinsville, was also transported to St. John, where she was admitted in critical condition.

Authorities say the vehicle was equipped with seatbelts but they were not in use at the time of the accident.

The cause of the condition was listed by OHP as “DUI” (driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol).
