Huskie spirit honorees

Two special awards were presented at the recent Pawhuska High School All-Sports Banquet to community members who have exemplified Huskie pride. The Bill Palmer Memorial Award was accepted on behalf of the Pawhuska Elks Lodge by Gary Weyl. Recipient of the Jearl Holt Memorial Award was Mark Helmer. The Elks organization has long partnered with local schools to benefit Huskie sports programs and the Pawhuska Lodge was again site of this year’s banquet. Helmer is a strong PHS sports booster who has taken up the cause of the PHS golf program, which is at somewhat of a disadvantage by not having a local practice facility.
