WYNONA SCHOOL
SUPERINTENDENT NOTES
(submitted by Superintendent Dixie Hurd)
The calendar for 2013-2014 has been approved by the board. It is attached. This week has been a hectic week of testing and some confusion with the online process of testing in the 6th - 8th grades. The elementary should finish testing by next week and the high school will start the following week.
On April 15, our Junior High girls have a softball game with Shidler at Wynona at 4:30 p.m.. The admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students. They also have a game on Thursday, April 18, at 4:30 p.m.. We really appreciate that our community and fans support our teams! Please come join us if you can!
Remember that April 19 and 26 are snow days that we did not have to use so there will be no school on those days! We only have 5 weeks of school left to complete this school year. At this time, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th grades are planning a trip to Woolaroc on May 2. PreK, K, 1st, 4th, and 5th grades are planning a trip to the zoo on May 6. The elementary science fair is scheduled for May 9. Kindergarten graduation is scheduled for May 14. Tri County Tech graduation is scheduled for May 14.
The last day of school is May 17. Graduation is May 17. Whew! Where did the time go?

FOUNDERS DAY PLANNING MEETING
Wynona Founders Day planning meeting was held at 7 p.m. April 11. The group discussed the Little Mr and Miss Wynona contest and decided that all entries must be in by May 20, at which time they will pick up their coffee can to decorate. On May 24, they will bring the can back in decorated. The Little Mr/Miss contest coordinator, Heather Waggie will put the cans out in 4 businesses in Wynona and go back every few days and rotate the cans so that all the entrants will be exposed to as many patrons as possible. The cans will be picked up on June 7.
On Founders Day, the contestants will walk across the stage so that everyone can see them, then the cans will be out in the concession stand until that afternoon at the awards assembly. There will also be an auction at the town hall Founders Day afternoon. Everyone is asked to bring a few good usable items that they no longer need and we will have an auction. The proceeds from the auction and from the Little Mr/Miss contest will go back into the Founders Day fund to pay for the dance and all other expenses.
We plan to have a Flea Market, box car races, dunk tank, horseshoes, giant inflatable jumps, free kids booths, kids games, adult games. There will be a concession stand all day and night. Registration for the Grillmaster cookoff will be May 27th at 4 pm at Town Hall. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. Attending the meeting were; Heather Waggie, Joey Stone, Jason Clark, Tennie Slone, Paul and Angie Stone, Dana Young, Joseph Lott.
Make plans now to attend and be a part of the fun and excitement plans for Wynona Founders Day, June 8, 2013.
