Darren McKinney, newly elected Osage County District 3 commissioner, is administered the oath of office by District Court Judge John Kane at the Osage County Court House on Monday. McKinney, a Democrat from Fairfax, garnered 66.7 percent of the votes to win over his Republican opponent John Blakney in the recent election. McKinney was accompanied at the swearing-in ceremony by his wife, children and granddaughter. Also present were fellow Osage County commissioners Bob Jackson and Scott Hilton. District 3 covers an area that extends from west Tulsa and Skiatook westward to near the Pawnee and Kay County lines. The seat was vacated late last year by longtime Commissioner Jim Clark, who resigned due to health problems.
