For the 12th consecutive year, free school supplies will be offered to students enrolled in Pawhuska schools. “This program is made available to all Pawhuska students regardless of income,” said Co-Chair Sherry Williams.

Supplies will be pre-assembled according to grade and will be handed out from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, and Thursday Aug. 4 at the Methodist Church’s Family Life Center, 621 Leahy in Pawhuska.

Although sponsored by the Pawhuska First United Methodist Church, this mission is a citywide project. Williams complimented the generosity of area churches, businesses, banks, civic clubs and individuals for the success of this project. “When the program was initiated 12 years ago, we had a budget of $1,000,” said Williams. “This enabled us to provide school supplies for 100 area students. The program has grown to a budget of over $4,500 which enables us to provide school supplies to more than 400 Pawhuska children.”

Donations of money and supplies are currently being accepted and may be dropped off at the Methodist Church office at 621 Leahy weekdays from 9 am to Noon Monday through Friday. Williams and Linda Boone have been co-chairs since the project’s inception. For more information, please contact Williams at 918-287-3438 or Linda Boone at 287-3711.
