3rd Annual Cattlemen’s Ball set for February 12
Osage County Cattlewomen and Cattlemen have once again joined forces to sponsor their 3rd annual Cattlemen’s Ball.
“The success of last year’s Valentine-themed ball was so great that we decided to do it again this year,” OCCW organizer Chrystal Themm said. “The timing is perfect with Valentines where folks begin thinking about those special people in their lives.”
The fete will be held at the Pawhuska Elks Lodge and will kick off at 7 p.m. Live music will be provided by the Cripple Creek Band.
“This talented group is well known around this area,” said Themm. “They have played at the Cain’s Ball Room, opened for great artists, such as George Jones, Clint Black and George Straight and have appeared on the popular Hee Haw TV show.”
While laughing, Themm said, “We also requested a fiddle player for the ball. (Laughing) I told them it wouldn’t be a western ball without a fiddle player.”
Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and will soon be available at American Heritage Bank in Pawhuska and First National Bank in Sedan, Kansas. Children 13 and under are free. The event is open to the public.
OCCW President Carol Crews wanted to remind everyone that, “The Cattlemen’s Valentine Ball” is a family-event and is reminisce of Osage County dances that were common in this area several decades ago. We encourage everyone to come dressed in their Cowboy Sunday Best.”
