Math projects inspire learning
Nathan Williams, Suzanne Hargus and Zoe Collier pose with the marble roller coaster they constructed in Mrs. Jackson’s math class. Students in Jackson’s math classes spent the final weeks of the semester doing project-based learning activities. Students built bridges, prosthetic hands and feet, boats, mazes and roller coasters. Jackson participated in the two-week science, technology, engineering and math workshop last summer sponsored by the Osage County Inter-local Coop where teachers from the area were introduced to many aspects of the STEM program to help inspire students in these fields. Many of the supplies used for the projects were from a grant Jackson received from the Pawhuska School Foundation.
