An Osage County cowboy, Chris Potter, was voted ‘Top Hand’ at last weekend’s 10th-annual Green Country Classic Ranch Rodeo in the Claremore Expo Center.

Nearly 100 cowboys and cowgirls participated in the two-day event, which featured team competitions in Ranch Bronc Riding, Stray Gathering, Team Doctoring, Calf Branding and Sorting.

The contestants were representing 18 area ranches, including Buford Ranches, the Chambers & Ford Drummond Ranches, Gray G Bar Ranch and Stierwalt Ranch in Osage County.

Potter, from the Drummond Ranch and Cattle Co., received a handmade saddle and commemorative cantle plate as part of the ‘Top Hand’ honor.

Winner of the GCCR team title (for the second straight year) was Buford Ranches-Craig County.

The Buford Ranches will advance to the WRCA National Finals Ranch Rodeo that is to be held in November at Amarillo, Texas.
