‘Remembering Ormand Beach’ theme for Historical Society’s annual meeting
The theme for the Osage County Historical Society’s annual meeting and auction is “Remembering Ormand Beach, the Man.”
The BBQ dinner will be held 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Osage County Fairgrounds Agricultural Building. Each Ormand Beach Award winner will be recognized and presented a certificate of honor.
Since its inception in 1948, 68 athletes have received the prestigious award. Louis Surber has the distinction of being the first honoree followed by Milton Labadie in 1949. According to event chair Shirley Roberts, both gentlemen plan to attend the May 2nd meeting.
“We have successfully located all but two Ormand Beach Award recipients,” said Roberts. “We need contact information for John Nunley and Tony Leonard. Nunley received his award in 1982 and Leonard in 1987.”
The live auction will feature art, books, collectibles and antiques relating to Osage County history. Donations are being accepted. Advance tickets are $25 at the museum.
