Annual Bridgefest accepting entries
Pawhuska P.E.O. Chapter EM will host its 7th annual Bridgefest Saturday, April 18. The event will kick off at 10 a.m. at the Velma Oaks Family Life Center, 620 Leahy with a continental breakfast. The theme this year is “Bridge to Friendship.”
In addition to breakfast, the $25 entry fee covers lunch, and snacks throughout the day. EM Chapter members donate the food and prizes. Some members donate an amount equal to the entry fee. Top winners in beginner and experienced categories receive cash prizes. Players are also offered a raffle and 50/50 pot.
A whimsical traveling deuce balloon will be presented to the player winning a trick with a deuce. Whoever has the balloon at the end of the day wins an incredible gift basket. A fun prize is even awarded to the player with the worst hand.
According to Bridgefest Chair Betty Russell, “Although Chapter EM sisters may compete in the tournament, they are excused from any of the winnings. We chose the theme ‘Bridge of Friendship’ because this event embodies camaraderie and the love of bridge.”
The tournament is open to women of all ages and skill levels and involves four-game contact progressive bridge. Players progress on tables and change partners. This concept allows new friendships to be formed and old ones renewed.
Proceeds from the event support Oklahoma and National P.E.O. educational and charitable projects.
