WYNONA SCHOOL NOTES

Superintendent Dixie Hurd

We have one week left of this semester! Tests are this week and then there will be a time to rest and enjoy the holidays!

Our teachers get a gift from the administration and students of a half day off. Students should still be in the studying mode because this is the final opportunity to get grades for the semester. We are trying to stick by our policy of turning work in on time. All work must be turned in by Friday, Dec. 19.

The December End of the Month Assembly will be Friday, Dec. 19, at 9 a.m. Everyone is always welcome to join us!

We have an elementary and junior high ball game on Thursday, Dec. 18. The first game will start at 4:30 p.m.. We play Shidler and the games will be at Wynona. There will be four games and we encourage our community to join us for a fun evening. A magnificent dinner of nachos and hot dogs topped off with a bag of popcorn and a coke can be purchased from our concession stand. As always, our local senior citizens (65 and over) are invited as our guests. There is no charge for senior citizens from Wynona. We appreciate the support from our fans and our community!

All of our students have the opportunity to download a program called Soft Seven. This is a math drill and has other skills as well. It has sight words drills. It is easy to google it to find it. There is a code that changes each day. Mrs. Hurd can get that code for those who would like to do this. This would be great practice during the holidays! There will be a contest for the math skills in the spring. Our top scorers will be awarded prizes and will have an opportunity to compete with other students in the state. Our top winner will be awarded an I-pod Shuffle. All elementary students should be practicing for this contest, and all students can use this program to improve their math fact knowledge.

We are gearing up for a great last week in the semester. All students need to be in attendance! All work needs to be turned in, and then everyone can rest! Let’s make it a great week!

The holiday break will be Dec. 22 - Jan. 4.

SCHOOL KIDS DECORATE CHRISTMAS TREE

Thanks to the students at Wynona Elementary School for decorating the town’s Christmas tree in front of Town Hall. This has become a yearly tradition and the students make the ornaments and come to the town hall and put their own ornament on the tree. The students are each given a candy cane for their participation. This makes a pretty tree that the Wynona students can be proud of for being a part of town decorating. Some of the students have brought their family by to see their decorations. We still have some decorations from many years past. Again, thanks to the Wynona School students!

BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC REMINDER

The Osage Home Health has been coming to Wynona Town Hall for quite some time now to take Blood Pressure and Blood Sugars. She comes on the first of the month or the first day that follows if the first comes on a weekend. This is a good thing for Wynonans, even if they take their readings at home, one can come to Town Hall and verify that their personal readings are correct. We appreciate the Osage Home Health for helping out our town!

VETERAN REPRESENTATIVE AT WYNONA TOWN HALL

Just a reminder that Lee Webb, VFW service officer, is still coming to the Town Hall on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. to help veterans with their benefits.Every Friday Lee will be at the Pawhuska Community Center from 9-11 a.m., Wynona 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and Hominy from 1-2 p.m. and any other towns that need assistance can come to one of these events. Lee will also be at Cleveland at the City Hall from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Fridays.
