We have many fun things going on at the school in October, including a Mom/Son Dance (with a Halloween-dress up theme) on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 7 - 9 p.m.

Cost for the dance is $20 for a mom and one son, with an extra $10 to be charged for each additional son. The fee pays for admission and pizza, dessert and a drink. Money for the dance can be turned in any time at the school office any time and a ticket will be sent home at that time. This dance will be open to surrounding communities as well. We would welcome anyone who would like to share this fun time with their sons.

Also in October: the Fall Carnival will be held from 6 - 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, and Red Ribbon Week runs Oct. 23 through Oct. 31. We are going to have our school resource officer, Steve Talbert, and several reserve officers visit with our junior high and high school students. They are planning to do a presentation and share lunch on Thursday, Oct. 23.

Basketball season begins in November. Basketball schedules will be available in the office for anyone who might need one.

We are very grateful to our community for being so supportive of our efforts.

An Osage Home Health representative has been coming to Wynona Town Hall for quite some time now to take blood pressure and blood sugar readings. She comes on the first of the month or the first day that follows if the first comes on a weekend. This is a good thing for Wynonans. Even if they take their readings at home, they can come to Town Hall and verify that their personal readings are correct. We appreciate the Osage Home Health for helping out our town.

Trick or Treat in Wynona will be Thursday, Oct. 30, from 7 - 9 p.m. This is the first time we have held the later hours and it should give people more time to get around after work/school. Also, we’re having it on Thursday, the 30th, instead of Halloween, Oct. 31, because of the many events planned on Friday.

For anyone who doesn’t have other things scheduled Friday, Oct. 31, there is going to be a double-feature movie night out on the lawn at Wynona Town Hall. A concession stand will have chili, coneys and other goodies. The first movie — “Hotel Transylvania” — begins at 7:30 p.m. A scarier second movie is to start about 15 minutes after the first one, allowing parents time to take their kids home or to a sitter and make it back it back to watch the late show.

Proceeds from the event go to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Dana Lott and her family will be in charge of the event and they invite everyone to come out and have a Howling Good Time!

Wynonans offer their condolences to the many family members and friends of Rapsie Holt, who passed away recently. She was a good friend to all who knew her and she will be missed.

Just a reminder that Lee Webb, VFW Service Officer, still visits Town Hall from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Fridays to help veterans with their benefits. This is a great opportunity that should be utilized by all veterans who are qualified. Lee is at the Pawhuska Community Center from 9 - 11 a.m. Friday. After coming to Wynona, he goes to Hominy from 1 - 2 p.m. Any area veterans in need of assistance can come to one of these towns to meet with Lee Webb, who asked to remind everyone that he also will be at Cleveland City Hall from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. on Fridays.
