We have many fun things going on in October. We will host a Mom/son dance with a Halloween theme from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 25 at the school. The cost is $20 for mom and one son; additional sons will be $10. Cost covers admission and pizza, dessert and a drink. This is a Halloween dress-up dance. Money may be turned in to the office at any time and a ticket for admission will be sent home. The dance is open to surrounding communities.

The fall carnival will be 6-8:30 p.m. Oct. 24.

Red Ribbon Week will be Oct. 23- 31. We are planning to have our school resource officer, Officer Steve Talbert, and several reserve officers to visit our junior high and high school students, do a presentation and share lunch on Oct. 23.

Our next PTO meeting is 6 p.m. Oct. 21. We will discuss our gifted/talented program, Title I program, Indian Ed program, and the sale of cookie dough and meat. All parents are invited. Students will have the opportunity to sell cookie dough and then meat during October. Proceeds will be used to help students and teachers do extra things, like attend the Constantine Theater productions and take field trips. We really appreciate the support of the community.

Basketball season will begin in November. Basketball schedules will be available in the office.

The Osage Home Health has been coming to Wynona Town Hall for quite some time now to take blood pressure and blood sugars. She comes on the first of the month or the first day that follows, if the first comes on a weekend. This is a good thing for Wynonans, even if they take their readings at home, one can come to Town Hall and verify that their personal readings are correct. We appreciate the Osage Home Health for helping out our town!

The Wynona Fire Department is firing up the grill to cook some great food from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the park across from The Store. They are trying to raise money to do some upgrades on fire equipment. For $6, they will serve a hamburgers, cheeseburger or hot dog, with choice of two sides (chips, baked beans, tater salad), dessert and a drink. It is a probability that the great cooking team of Jim Lott and Jody Slone will be manning the grill. They are notorious for their delicious grilled foods. Any additional donations to the Wynona Volunteer Fire Department will be greatly appreciated!

Trick or Treat in Wynona will be from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 30, instead of Oct. 31, because of all the events going on around us. This is the first time we have had the later hours and it will give people more time to get around after work and school. On Oct. 31, there will be a double feature movie night at Wynona Town Hall, out on the lawn. There will be a concession stand with chili, coneys and other goodies. The movies will start off with “Hotel Transylvania” at 7:30 p.m. and a scarier-type movie to be shown about 15 minutes after the kid-friendly one. Proceeds from the event go to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Dana Lott and her family will be in charge of the event.

Just a reminder that Lee Webb, VFW service officer, is still coming to the Town Hall on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. to help veterans with their benefits.Every Friday Lee will be at the Pawhuska Community Center from 9-11 a.m., Wynona 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and Hominy from 1-2 p.m. and any other towns that need assistance can come to one of these events. Lee will also be at Cleveland at the City Hall from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Fridays.
