This week marks the end of the first quarter. There will be no school on Friday, Oct. 10. This day makes up for the evenings the teachers did parent conferences. There will also be no school next week for fall break (Oct. 13 - 17).

There are many fun things going on in October. The school will be hosting a mom/son dance with a Halloween theme on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 7-9 p.m. here at the school. The cost is $20 for mom and one son, additional sons will be $10. The cost will cover admission and pizza, dessert, and a drink. This is a Halloween dress up dance. Money may be turned in to the office at any time and a ticket for admission will be sent home at that time. This dance will be open to surrounding communities as well. We would welcome anyone who would like to share this fun time with their sons!

The Fall carnival will be 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24.

Red Ribbon Week will be Oct. 23-31. We are planning to have our school resource officer, Officer Steve Talburt, and several reserve officers to visit junior high and high school students, do a presentation, and share lunch on Thursday, Oct. 23.

Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, October 21, at 6 p.m. We will be discussing our gifted/talented program, Title I program, Indian Ed program, and the sale of cookie dough and meat. We invite all of our parents to attend! Our students will have the opportunity to sell cookie dough and then meat during October. The proceeds from these sales will be used to help our students and teachers do things that are the extras. This allows them to attend the Constantine Theater productions, take field trips, and do other extras. We really appreciate the support of the community in these sales!

There are many things going on in October and then the basketball season will begin in November. Basketball schedules will be available in the office for those who might need one.

The Osage Home Health has been coming to Wynona Town Hall for quite some time now to take Blood Pressure and Blood Sugars. She comes on the first of the month or the first day that follows if the first comes on a weekend. This is a good thing for Wynonans, even if they take their readings at home, one can come to Town Hall and verify that their personal readings are correct. We appreciate the Osage Home Health for helping out our town!

The Wynona Fire Department is firing up the grill to cook some great food on Oct. 18 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the park across from The Store. They are trying to raise money to do some upgrades on fire equipment. They will be serving hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, with sides of chips, baked beans, tater salad and a drink. For $6, they will serve a hamburger or cheeseburger or hot dog with 2 sides, a dessert and a drink. Plan now to come and bring the family out for a delicious meal. It is a probability that the great cooking team of Jim Lott and Jody Slone will be manning the grill. They are notorious for their delicious grilled foods. Come and give them the taste test and see if you agree! Any additional donations to the Wynona Volunteer Fire Department will be greatly appreciated!

Trick or Treat in Wynona will be Thursday, Oct. 30, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. This is the first time we have had the later hours and it will give people more time to get around after work and school. Also, we are having it on the 30th, Thursday, instead of Friday the 31st because of all the events going on all around us. For those who do not have other things scheduled on Friday, Oct. 31, there will be a double feature movie night at Wynona Town Hall, out on the lawn. There will be a concession stand with chili, coneys, and other goodies. The movies will start off with Hotel Transylvania, and a scarier type movie to be shown after the kid friendly one. Proceeds from the event go to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Dana Lott and her family will be in charge of the event. They invite everyone to come out and have a Howling Good Time!
