OCHS Museum completes first of 9 display cases

Osage Nation recently donated several display cases to the Osage County Historical Society.

OCHS Director Barbara Pease said the cases feature fiber-optic lighting and the first of nine displays features vintage baskets, pottery and arrowheads. The pottery bowl in the center is from Pease’s private collection. It was the subject for the original oil painting in the center of the display by local artist Sara Jane Soderstrom.

Work continues daily as the museum readies the new exhibit cases for visitors. Pease encourages everyone to stop by and visit the expanded book store, affectionately named “Patty’s Book Store” in honor of OCHS Secretary Patty Gambill who has donated countless hours cataloging old and new books and expanding the Book Store’s collection of rare and out of print books.

The Osage County Historical Society Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 918-287-9119, email ochsm@sbcglobal.net or visit their website at www.osagecohistoricalmuseum.com
