Tennie SloneJ-C Correpondent

Remember that parent conferences will be from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 16 and 18. Please call the school to schedule an appointment. Our goal is to have 100 percent participation from parents. It is very important to know how each child is doing at the five-week mark. If corrections need to be made, there is still time. The number is 918-846-2467.

There will be no school on Monday, Sept. 22. That day is a professional day for teachers. On Friday, Sept. 26, we are planning our first Family Night. Our students will be showcasing their reading skills. We hope to make this a fun-filled evening for all parents and students. Please save the date if you can.

Wynonans are asked to mow or weed eat around their water meter cans to help the utility workers when they read the meters for billing. They have been working hard to clean up the right of ways on the streets, spraying weed killer around the fire hydrants and intersections. If residents will help out by keeping the areas around the meter cans cleaned out, it will be a great help. This has been a banner year for grass and weeds. It has been almost a full time job for the utility workers to keep everything tended to.

Also, there has been a major problem with residents leaving their trash where the wind can blow it all over. The trash guys will not pick up loose trash, only trash that is bagged. Also, care should be taken to keep the bags contained in a polycart or trash can. Although there is a leash law, animals can get into loose trash or bags sitting on the side of the road.

Polycarts are available at town hall for an additional $2 per month added on to the utility bills. Contact Town Hall for more information.

The Osage Home Health has been coming to Wynona Town Hall for quite some time now to take Blood Pressure and Blood Sugars. She comes on the first of the month or the first day that follows if the first comes on a weekend.

This is a good thing for Wynonans, even if they take their readings at home. One can come to Town Hall and verify that their personal readings are correct. We appreciate the Osage Home Health for helping out our town.

The Wynona Fire Department is firing up the grill to cook some great food from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the park across from The Store. They are trying to raise money to do some upgrades on fire equipment. They will be serving hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, with sides of chips, baked beans, tater salad and a drink. For $6, they will serve a hamburger or cheeseburger or hot dog with 2 sides, a dessert and a drink.

Plan now to come and bring the family out for a delicious meal. It is a probability that the great cooking team of Jim Lott and Jody Slone will be manning the grill. They are notorious for their delicious grilled foods.

Come and give them the taste test and see if you agree. Any additional donations to the Wynona Volunteer Fire Department will be greatly appreciated.
