Pawhuska Methodist Church to host showing of ‘Heaven Is for Real’
The Pawhuska First United Methodist Churchwil hold a one-night showing of the acclaimed movie, Heaven Is for Real, tonight at 6 p.m.
“In addition to the movie, popcorn, lemonade and hotdogs will be severed for $1,” said Pastor Kathy Morris.
Based on a true story, Heaven for Real chronicles life for four-year old Colton Burpo after he emerges from life-threatening surgery. Colton is the son of Pastor Todd Burpo of Imperial, Neb.
The Burpos attended college at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville.
In Heaven Is for Real, Colton talks about his out-of-body experience during his emergency surgery. He talks about looking down to see the doctor operating, his mother calling people to pray in the waiting room and his father in another room yelling at God. The family did not know what to believe. In Heaven, Colton says he met sister whom his family had never told him about since his mother had miscarried before he was born. He also talked about his great-grandfather who died thirty years earlier. Sharing seemingly impossible details about each, Colton then describes Jesus’ horse and His physical appearance.
Heaven for Real is an 2014 American Christian drama film directed by Randall Wallace and written by Christopher Parker, based on Pastor Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincents 2010 book of the same name.
