Quilt Month begins at Drummond Home

It has been a busy couple of weeks at the Drummond Home in Hominy.

On March 26 the home presented a tour for Tulsa’s Turner Tour group, which brought 31 visitors to the site. The group had a delicious dinner at Hominy’s Wild Country Restaurant, then took the tour of the Fred Drummond home. Afterwards, they toured Cha Tullis’s Art Gallery in downtown Hominy.

A big thanks to Tom Points of Hominy for having the lawn at the Drummond Home sprayed again this year. It is very much appreciated.

We want to remind everyone that our Annual Quilt exhibit officially started April 1 and will last the entire month. Most of the quilts featured were made by the late Addie Drummond. We also have many made by other local ladies. All will be on display, so come on down and enjoy the quilt show.

Recipe for the week is: SEVEN DAY CABBAGE SLAW

Taken from “A Taste Of The Drummond Home” cookbook:

3 lbs cabbage

1 medium onion

2 cups of sugar

1 cup vinegar

1 tbsp salt

1 green bell pepper

2 carrots

1 cup cooking oil

1 ½ tbsp celery seed

Use food processor or finely chop cabbage, onion, pepper, and carrots. Pour sugar over mixture and mix well. Let stand for ten minutes. Boil cooking oil, vinegar, salt and celery send together. Pour boiling mixture over chopped vegetables and stir well. Cover and refrigerate. Ready to eat immediately. Keeps well for seven days!
