PBDC classes expanding

Since its grand opening in August of 2012, the Pawhuska Business Development Center continues to be a hub of learning activity.

Located east of the City Hospital at 1225 Virginia Avenue, this beautiful 20,000 square foot facility provides incubator service for budding new businesses and classrooms for short-term courses.

“We have 15 Students enrolled in the ‘Computers for Beginners Level 1’ class,” said PBDC Coordinator Cindy Helmer. “This is a great turnout.” As an extension of Bartlesville-based Tri County Technology Center, PBDC is able to offer a variety of affordable classes for Osage County residents.

With spring fast approaching, PBDC is offering a one-night class on ‘Canning Basics’ on Tuesday, March 11. The two-day ‘Career Readiness’ course begins March 25. This informative and extremely useful class was designed to help candidates prepare for the job market. Students will learn how to build a resume, along with tips and tricks and do’s and don’ts regarding their job search, including the interview process.

April classes target computers and social media. These include entry level ‘PowerPoint 2010’ on April 8, ‘Excel 2010’ on April 22, ‘Computers for Beginners Level II’ on April 28, ‘Social Media for Dummies’ on April 22, and ‘Smartphones for Dummies Level I’ on April 24. May offerings include ‘Basic Phlebotomy’ on May 6. A follow-up ‘Smartphones for Dummies Level II’ begins on May 15.
