Plans begin for 25th Annual Honors Banquet

It’s been said it takes a village to raise a child. The same can be applied to the number of volunteers it takes to plan and execute the Pawhuska High School Honors Banquet.
The banquet will be held Monday, March 3, 2014, at the Pawhuska Elks Lodge. The theme is “Shining Stars of PHS – Celebrating 25 Years of Success.”
Guest speaker Alden Swartz will give a brief history of the Honors Banquet. He will be joined by Lyndall Stout, a PHS graduate and current anchor for OETA’s SUNUP TV show which airs Saturday mornings at 7:30 a.m. and Sunday mornings at 6 a.m.
“Honorees are the top ten percent of the Pawhuska High School student body based on grades from the previous spring and fall semesters,” explained Honors Banquet Chair Janette Murray.
“In addition, honorees shall have no letter grade lower than a ‘C’ in any class the previous spring and fall semesters. In the case of students transferring to PHS, every effort will be made by the high school counselor to equate each student’s incoming GPA with GPA requirements at PHS,” she said.
In addition to Murray, committee members for the 25th Annual Honors Banquet are Superintendent Landon Berry, Stacey Big Eagle, Linda Boone, Bob Craig, Randall Esch, Danny Ferguson, James Hager, Rosemary Justensen, Michael Lynn, Michelle Malaske, Kim Moen, Paula Rabb, Debbie Reed, Ron Reed, Blayne Shuping, Joe Sindelar, Tina Steele, Barbara Strahan, Libby Strahan, Scott Sutherland, Stacy Sutherland, Charlie Wadsworth, and Jim Wilson.
