The Flower Shoppe returns to Pawhuska
The Flower Shoppe returned to Pawhuska last month when veteran florist Caitlin Moore purchased the Rustic Rose Floral from Brett Christiansen.
“I restored the old name because I really appreciate the history and legacy of the owners before me,” said Moore. “I also wanted to honor my grandmother, Jane Engles, who owned a business in Sapulpa named The Flower Shoppe. In addition to owning her own business, my grandmother taught the floral craft at Sapulpa Vo-Tech for almost twenty years. I was privileged to receive one-on-one training from her.”
Prior to purchasing The Flower Shoppe, Moore had been free-lancing as a wedding and holiday florist and has ten years’ experience as a professional florist. Moore began working in the floral industry when she was 14 years old. By the time she turned 15, she was creating arrangements. Her passion continued through college where she worked for flower shops.
In addition to beautiful plants and flowers, Moore plans to offer an impressive collection of silk arrangements.
“I only use high quality products that will last a long time,” said Moore. “Our reasonable prices should enable our customers to find just the right piece.”
“Even though The Flower Shoppe has only been open a month, Pawhuska already feels like home,” Moore said. “My husband, Chris, has deep roots to the community and was raised here. He is the oldest son of Larry and Penny Moore. Chris is also related to Jerry and Mary Moore and Terry and Beverly Moore. Chris’ grandfather, John Morledge, used to manage the former Chapman-Barnard Ranch which is now the Prairie Preserve.”
The couple has two children, 3-year-old Eli and 18-month-old Emory. They are currently residing in Ponca City where Chris is an electrician.
“We are in the process of getting our home for sale,” said Moore. “Then, we plan to complete our transition to our new community.”
The Flower Shoppe will be one stop-shopping for upscale home decor.
“I like to think of our inventory as shabby chic or vintage with a modern feel,” Moore said. “New items are arriving daily, including decorator doors and windows. We can customize these doors to create unique headboards and more. Our 4’ tall pumpkins and snowmen are made from reclaimed wood and can be used inside or out. The weather actually enhances their appeal.”
Currently located at 215 West Main, The Flower Shoppe hopes to relocate in early December to their new location at 536 Leahy. This building is undergoing a total transformation and will feature the floral shop in the front and a bakery in the back. Watch the newspaper as more details unfold.
“I am really excited to be in Pawhuska and look forward to becoming part of this wonderful community,” said Moore. “My goal is help my customers capture special moments with flowers.”
The Flower Shoppe will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday thru Friday. The shop will also be open the first Saturday of each month for a big 20-percent-off sale, according to Moore.
