Season to Taste


“Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world”… Recall that song from Sunday school? “Red or yellow, black or white, they are precious in his sight”…

Well, I like to think the members of Episcopal Church Women, affectionately known as ECW, embrace the same loving concept of arms open wide and ALL are welcome. ECW is a wonderful group of ladies who share a common bond of faith and a desire to serve the Lord. They also lovingly come together once a month for fun, food, fellowship and of course, a little business on the side! Recently, one of the members blessed the women by whipping up not one, but two, OUT OF THIS WORLD PIES. (It goes without saying, if Dolores Covington makes a pie, it is going to be out of this world!) Now, you tell me, for heaven’s sake, WHO would dare want to miss out on a meeting like that?

Devilishly Good, Out Of This World Pie

1 can Wilderness cherry pie filling

1 large can crushed pineapple undrained

½ cup sugar

1 T. cornstarch

1 tsp. red food color

1 – 3 oz. box raspberry Jello

6 bananas – sliced

1 cup chopped pecans

2 baked 9” pie shells

1 large Cool Whip

In saucepan combine first 5 ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened. Remove from heat and add Jello. Stir until Jello dissolves. Cool completely. Add bananas and pecans. Pour into pie shells, top with whipped topping, chill.
