Season to Taste


Some families don’t think the meal is complete without bread on the table. Seriously, BREAD is THE menu MUST! When it comes to my family’s palette, we aren’t really that passionate about it. We like it, we just don’t pay tribute to it! BUT, on the flip side, if I am going to bring out the bread, I want it to be well worth all those extra hip-hugging calories.

A friend of mine prepared and shared one of her favorite recipes with me. It is not labor intensive so there is no need to enroll in Bread Making 101 in order to have a loaf of it tonight.

Simple and Savory

Swiss Onion Bread

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease a bundt pan.

2 and 1/2 tsp. poppy seeds, divided

1 tube refrigerated white bread dough 17.4 oz

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

3/4 cup minced green onion

1/4 cup melted butter

Sprinkle 1/2 tsp. poppy seeds in the bottom of the pan.

Cut dough into twenty 1 inch pieces. Place ten of the pieces in the pan on top of the seeds. Next, add half of the cheese and the onions. Top with 1 tsp. poppy seeds. Drizzle on half of the melted butter then repeat the layers. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. As soon as you take it from the oven, invert onto a wire rack. Serve warm and yields one yummy loaf.
