Bridge fest winners announced

Pawhuska’s P.E.O. Chapter EM hosted its 5th Annual Bridge Fest Saturday at the Methodist Church family Life Center. The theme for the 2013 event was “Bridge to Friendship” and involved four-game contract progressive bridge where players progress on tables and change partners.
The tournament kicked off at 10 a.m. Players were treated to a beautifully displayed lunch with an assortment of delectable desserts and snacks throughout the day.
An abundance of attractive door prizes made it difficult for the winners to decide which one to take. Sherry Williams of Pawhuska was the top Bridge Fest winner chalking up 5,750 points to earn the $50 cash prize. Helen Shell of Bartlesville came in second with 4,906 points with a $25 cash prize. Judy Roberts of Tulsa won the 50/50 pot. Barbara Ware of Ponca City drew the winning raffle ticket for a three-tiered porcelain buffet tower filled with assorted kitchen gadgets and candles. Evelyn Helm ended up with the Deuce prize basket which was overflowing with smoked salmon, caviar and other luscious goodies.
According to Bridge Fest Chair, Betty Russell, “The deuce prize travels throughout the day. Whoever wins a trick with a deuce is awarded the traveling balloon. Helm was the lucky balloon holder at the end of the day.” Flo Messall of Bartlesville was the first person to draw a hand with nine being the highest card.” Russell explained, “In other words, a very bad hand! Her prize was a six-pack of Coke Cola. Dottie Allen is our official Bridge Fest ‘Rules’ person. All those years of playing bridge has become our Chapter’s asset!”
