Lions Club aids city clean-up effort

Last week the Pawhuska Lions Club was unable to join in the scheduled city-wide clean-up efforts headed by the GFWC Heeko Club.

But they had a good reason.

They were hosting their annual spring all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the Senior Citizens Center. The breakfast is the first of two yearly fundraisers the Lions sponsor to support their community and humanitarian projects.

Pawhuska is one of 46,000 Lions clubs worldwide. With over 1.35 million members, the Lions Club holds the distinction of being the largest service club organization in the world.

During last Saturday’s breakfast, Mayor Roger Taylor, himself a 3-year Lion, expressed regret that the Lions were unable to help with Saturday’s cleanup and that the Club would be out in full force the following Saturday to do their part in beautifying Pawhuska and surrounding areas.

True to his word, the Lions Club adopted the City Lake Road.

Mayor Taylor commented, “On behalf of the City, we appreciate the efforts individuals and groups are making to clean up our town and surrounding areas.”
