Granddaughter of Pawhuska resident wins 2013 National Dance Competition


Abby Camargo, granddaughter of Pawhuska residents Danny and Linda Boone and David and the late Beverly Camargo, won Pom Championship during the recent 2013 National Dance Association competition held at Florida’s Universal Orlando Resort.

Camargo is a three-year member of the Charles Page High School Varsity Dance Team in Sand Springs. Her team competed against 48 groups from all across the country. Taking 1st, they garnered the title of 2013 NDA Pom Championship, Award for Excellence.

This win qualified the squad for international competition where they took 4th.

Camargo was five years old when she began her dance career. She soon became a member of a traveling competitive class led by Tirita’s Dance & Performing Arts Studio. Camargo is a junior at Charles Page High School where she is active in Student Council and NASA. She is the daughter of Shane and Jackie (Boone) Whisenhunt of Sand Springs and Sean Camargo of Broken Arrow, and granddaughter of Ernie Canfield and Barbara Whisenhunt of Theodosia, Mo.
