4-Bar RUC became Cavalcade’s best All Around Club, all-time
History was made when 4-Bar Round Up Club won Best All Around Club honors at the 2014 Cavalcade.
It was the record 14th All Around title for Yale-based 4-Bar, which had tied Turley RUC for most-ever Best Club awards by capturing its 12th championship in 2011. The first 4-Bar title came in 1987, shortly after the club was founded.
Turley Round Up Club won its initial All Around crown in 1953 and took three straight championships from 1960-62 before pulling off a four-peat between 1982 and 1985. Although consistently well-represented, Turley has not claimed a club title since 1991.
Back-to-back All Around victories in 2011-12 gave Owasso RUC a total of 11 Best Club titles. The first Owasso championship in 1965 launched a run of four straight, which matched an accomplishment that previously had only been achieved by the Edna (Kan.) RUC, from 1954-57.
One other club managed to win the All Around award four times in a row was the Bartlesville Sooner Saddlers from 1974-77.
The 4-Bar bunch will be trying to defend its title as best club against top challenger Owasso and 110 more entries from across Oklahoma and Kansas.
