Nadine Barnett, age 94 lifelong Caney resident passed on to her heavenly home on January 9, 2023 at Medicalodge of Coffeyville. Nadine was born in Caney, KS. on November 7, 1928, to James Guy and Lois Etta (Shirley) Ashbrook. She attended school in Caney graduating in 1946. After graduation she went to work for Phillips 66 in Bartlesville, OK as a secretary. During those years she eventually worked her way up to being an executive secretary to several Vice Presidents of the company with the later being Bob Wallace. She was very loyal and dedicated to her career in the Chemical Department retiring after 40 years of service in 1986. On February 25, 1955, she was united in marriage to Barna Harold Barnett in Nowata, OK. at the First Baptist Church. She was a past lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Caney and was currently a member of Tyro Christian Church. Nadine was a lifetime member of the Jane Phillips Sorority, member of the Desk & Derrick Club, a member of the Home Culture Club, a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Order of Eastern Star as well as other organizations. Nadine enjoyed when she was able, reading, doing crossword puzzles, cryptoquotes, watching Jeopardy and other game shows on TV until health issues resulted in 2010. Nadine's memories live on with her daughter, Barbara Bush (Gregg) of Caney, KS, grandsons Shaun Bush of Caney, KS, (Jennifer) of Drumright, OK, Ryan Bush (Erin) of Caney, KS, and Corey Bush (Ricki) of McAlester, OK, great-grandchildren: Charli, Rhett, Wyatt, Lillie, and Colter Bush. She is survived by her sister Guyla Barger of Enid, OK. She is preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Lois Ashbrook, her brother Orville Ashbrook, her sisters, Delores Waite and Helen Hall. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Tyro Christian Church with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, KS. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Tyro Christian Church 301 Market St Tyro, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions be made payable to the Tyro Christian Church Children's Ministry; these may be left with or sent in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd.
