Larry soon rose to command weather squadrons world-wide as they were stationed in Japan and Turkey. After retiring from the Air Force, they settled in Belleville, Illinois, near Scott Air Force Base. After divorcing, Suzy worked for a property management company in Belleville.

A few years later Suzy met Max Lantz, a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, at a Sunday school class in O'Fallon, IL, near Belleville. He worked for Science Applications International Corporation, and she worked at the American Cancer Society.

They married in that church, O'Fallon First United Methodist, in 1994 and after a few years both retired and moved to Marble Falls, TX.
