Mary Ann Ware passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 at her home in Pawhuska. She was 81 years old.

Ms. Ware was born July 10, 1932 in Wynona, Okla., the daughter of Fred J. and Elizabeth (Kernodle) Dunlap.

Following her parents’ divorce, Mary Ann went to live with her grandmother, Mary Elsie Dunlap, and attended school in Wynona until the age of 14. At that time, she went to live with her father and step-mother (Polly) in Richmond, Cal., then on to live with her mother and step-father (Jay Love) in Colfax, Cal. where she completed high school.

Mary Ann married Gene Ware in Hominy, Okla. on December 1, 1956. They were divorced June 15, 1978.

Surviving are her daughters, Amy (Ware) Hadley and Elaine M. Ware; grandchildren, Robert Wells, William Wells and Alexandria Hadley; sister Lysbeth Louise Hildabrant; brother Joe Dunlap and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elizabeth (Kernodle) Dunlap.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28, at McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home. Jay Edens will officiate. Ms. Ware’s cremains will be buried between her grandparents, William and Mary Elsie Shepherd.
