Gilbert William Campus, 101 years old, passed away on Dec. 15, 2012 in Lancaster, Cal. of natural causes.

A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at Spirit Church, 900 S. Dewey, Bartlesville, Okla. with Pastor Darryl Wootten officiating.

Burial of ashes will follow at 2:00pm in the Pawhuska City Cemetery, 600 W. 15th St., Pawhuska, Okla.

Gilbert was born in Alderson, Okla. to Amado and Mary Revius Campus on Nov. 11, 1911, the youngest of 6 children which included one sister and four brothers.

Gilbert married Mollie Reyes on June 25, 1934 in Kansas City, Mo. They had seven children, which includes two daughters and five sons, and were married 61 years until her death in 1995. They first made their home in Kansas City, Mo. before moving to Pawhuska then later to Bartlesville. Gilbert married Ruth Parrot in November, 1999 in Pawhuska. They made their home in Bartlesville and were married for two years until her death in 2001.

Gilbert began his career first working for the WPA during the Great Depression era as an apprentice carpenter, moving up to home and heavy building construction. He was a Tulsa, Okla. Local Carpenters Union member.

In his younger years, Gilbert enjoyed gardening then later developed a passion for fishing. He loved being in the great outdoors.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents Amado and Mary Revius Campus; four brothers, Jim Campus, Ed Campus, Albert Campus, Pete Campus; one sister Matilda; wife Mollie Reyes Campus and second wife Ruth Parrot Campus; two sons Daniel A. Campus and William Campus; one daughter-in-law Eula Martin Campus Anderson; one grandson Ronald Razo.

He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Campus and family of Bartlesville, and Elizabeth Willcox and family of Tulsa, Okla.; three sons Richard Campus and family of California, Roy Campus and family of Lancaster, Cal., and Robert Campus and family of Monmouth, Ill; 17 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home of Pawhuska is in charge of arrangements.
