Paula Ruth Puryear McGee died on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Grace Living Center in Oklahoma City. She was 83.
Born in Pawhuska, Ruth was the daughter of Charlotte and Henry Lawrence Puryear. She grew up and completed high school in Pawhuska before attending Christian College in Columbia, Mo. Later, she received her degree from the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of OU’s Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
Shortly after graduating and beginning a career as a teacher, Ruth met and later married Frank E. McGee, who (in 1968) preceded her in death. Ruth never remarried, although she returned to teaching at St. John’s Episcopal School and later worked at Bankers Bank, both being in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include three sons — Kevin, Patrick, and Blaine. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Charlotte and Max. She was an amazing mom, grandma, teacher, friend, and Stephen’s Minister at All Souls Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City, OK. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 4, at Oklahoma City’s All Souls Episcopal Church. It is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Mary.
