Week of Feb. 12 to Feb. 18

Thank you to the amazing PTO of Barnsdall Public Schools for providing dinner and breakfast to the school faculty during parent-teacher conferences last week. The faculty were able to enjoy chili and dessert in between conferences on Thursday and have muffins for breakfast on Friday. If you missed the conferences and want to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher, please call the school or email the teacher for an appointment.

The Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce met Tuesday of this week and discussed several new business items on the agenda. The annual Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 11. The event will be held at the city park. Lisa Duke, the American Red Cross coordinator, talked to the chamber about recruiting new donors to the community blood drives hosted at the high school. The new pocket athletic schedules for baseball, slow-pitch softball and track have all been ordered and will be delivered soon. Thank you to Bill and Beth Bell, Havenar Plants and Tone UR Hyde for sponsoring the pocket athletic schedules. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated.

The next Chamber of Commerce meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Mar. 10 at noon.

The Barnsdall High School Cheerleading Squad will be selling Crush Pop and balloons for a Valentine’s Day fundraiser. They are selling a Crush Pop with a message for $1 or a Crush Pop with a message and balloon for $5.

All Valentine orders need to be turned in with money to Mrs. Tafoya by Feb. 12 in the high school office. All items will be delivered to the students, Thursday, Feb. 13.

The high school basketball teams will be playing their last home games of the season this week, against Pawhuska on Friday, Feb. 14. The last home game will also be Senior Night, honoring the seniors at 6:15 p.m. The team will then travel to Caney Valley on Monday, Feb. 17, for the last scheduled game of the season. All varsity basketball matchups start with the girls game at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

The high school wrestling team will go to dual state this weekend. Dual state begins Friday, Feb. 14, and ends Saturday, Feb. 15. Please check the Barnsdall School Wrestling Facebook page for more information and details of the dual state tournament. Good luck, Panthers!
